Finally, it's time for the new year. With it comes the new television line up. New shows are popping up all over the place and on every channel. Now, don't get me wrong. There are a LOT of older television shows such as CSI on CBS and E.R. on NBC that are some of my favorites and I would like to see them last for quite a while longer. There are also some shows that have become my favorites over the past year such as Ugly Betty (which helped to inspire me to start this on line magazine) on ABC. Switching to CW there is Everybody Hates Chris that reminds me of a much simpler time (although it doesn't seem that way for him). And then, there is the FOX Network...
I was out shopping the other day and heard some one ,about an isle over, say something to the effect of "Did you hear? Terminator is coming out on television". Speaking of nostalgia, for a split second I thought back to the movie before looking back to the shelf for the item that had dragged me and my thin wallet to this place. Scanning the shelves, intermittently thinking about how the movie grew over the years and wandering if I could calculate my list down to a dime, I heard the man tell some of the details of the commercial for it. Well, it most definitely seemed interesting. Later that day, sitting in front of the television, the preview commercial for it came on. Skeptically, I watched. There had been so many good shows just disappear over the past 8 or so years after 1 or 2 good seasons. Now, typically, you have to give that few yawns to any new program coming out. It needs time to grow. I have to tell you that there was nothing typical about FOX's "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles". It had elements that weren't even anticipated. It came out of the gate strong, and went all the way through with me sitting on the edge of my seat. It seems that all other free aired television stations just watched a new dog walk on to the porch. And, for me, it's now the leader of the pack.
Beyond what shows are coming out on television and Internet Television. This is also a really good time to catch up on some of the older shows (and some of the newer ones as well). Recently, I have had the good fortune of finding television on DvD and the Internet. There is NOTHING like watching about 18 hours of something good with little or no commercials. Of course I wouldn't advise sitting and watching 18 hours of anything at one go. Break it up. Maybe, about 2 or three hours a night. People have got to get at least some exercise, you know. That was one of the reasons that I created the television buttons on the main page. Some of the free networks in my area that have really good programming. Not everyone can afford cable or satellite.
All in all, the bar is being set on this years line up of entertainment. With more and more people switching to digital, the look and feel of the show has to come off production almost as if it were actually happening in real time right in front of the viewer. Hopefully, most of the shows already on, as well as the ones taking there first breath, will survive the new era coming up.

Update: January 24 2008
I...Just....I.....Huh? Okay, I try not to comment on all the television shows that I enjoy. If I did, then there would be very little for the next issue. But, I have to say that sitting down to watch my Thursday night E.R., I was pleasantly surprised to see instead one of my new favorites from last season back on the air for another season. 'The mixture of comedy and action is done so well in NBC's Chuck it is absolutely addictive.' If you missed this show tonight (or some of last season), watch full episodes on NBC's website by using the television button at the top of this page.
Enjoy,
:o)
